Critical Distance is pleased to participate in the 2018 Edition Art Book Fair, running concurrently with Art Toronto at Metro Toronto Convention Centre. For our third year at Edition, CDCC presents publications and editions from STUDIO MUSEUM IN HARLEM (NY), CONTEMPORARY& (Berlin), INDEPENDENT CURATORS INTERNATIONAL (NY), DOMINICA (LA), and HALF LETTER PRESS (Chicago); artist’s editions by KAYFA TA/MAHA MAAMOUN and ALA YOUNIS (Cairo), QIANA MESTRICH (Brooklyn), ED PANAR (Pittsburgh), and KHALED HOURANI (Palestine); plus two new catalogues produced in conjunction with recent exhibitions at Critical Distance.
We are thrilled to launch two new catalogues produced in conjunction with recent exhibitions at Critical Distance: We Look At Animals Because (curated by Toleen Touq and Nahed Mansour and produced in partnership with SAVAC with support from the Toronto Arts Council), and … move or be moved by some thing rather than oneself. (curated by Florence-Agathe Dubé-Moreau and Maude Johnson). Join us Friday and Saturday from 2–4 pm to celebrate these new publications along with standout editions by exhibiting and affiliated artists including Kayfa ta (Maha Maamoun and Ala Younis), Ed Panar, Khaled Hourani, and many others.
For our third year at Edition, Critical Distance will also present an array of publications from The Studio Museum in Harlem. Among our offerings will be the complete set of “F-series” catalogues documenting their signature group exhibitions, including the hard-to-find Freestyle, from the first exhibition in the series (2001). We will also have selections from the Museum’s Studio Magazine and Harlem Postcard series. We are also pleased to feature international art publisher Contemporary And (C&). In addition to a very limited supply of complimentary copies of C& magazine, we will present C&’s first book, I am built inside you (Texts countering the art canon).
